Study Shows Group Drumming Beneficial In Many Ways
Dr. Barry Bittman supports the claim that group drumming has positive effects on the human body, specifically on the neuroendocrine and neuroimmune systems.  The systems acted in way that is opposite to the classic stress response.
In other words: group drumming may help to de-stress the body and enhance the immune system.
Bittman M.D., Barry, “Composite Effects of Group Drumming...,” Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine; Volume 7, No. 1, pp. 38-47; January 2001

Drumming Found to Be Important In Recovery
“Drumming induces relaxation and produces natural pleasurable experiences, enhanced awareness of preconscious dynamics, a release of emotional trauma, and reintegration of self. Drumming addresses self-centeredness, isolation, and alienation, creating a sense of connectedness with self and others. Drumming provides a secular approach to accessing a higher power and applying spiritual perspectives to the psychological and emotional dynamics of addiction. Drumming circles have important roles as complementary addiction therapy, particularly for repeated relapse and when other counseling modalities have failed.
In other words: Drumming may be a great alternative therapy for addiction.
Winkelman, Michael, “Complementary Therapy for Addiction: Drumming Out Drugs,” American Journal of Public Health; Apr 2003, Vol. 93 Issue 4, p647, 5p

Premature Infants Helped By Music
The late and beloved Rosalie Pratt of Brigham Young University agrees with the finding that the human voice singing music can help premature infants grow and leave the hospital faster.  She also states that music of any kind (beauty being in the ear of the beholder, so to speak) can create the relaxing calm needed for healing.
In other words: Music can help even the youngest of us.
